Makeup Monday-Contouring and Highlighting

I cannot tell you how much I love this technique! It is something that I learned while I was in hair school but I'm finally starting to use this trick in my everyday makeup routine. I dont know why it has taken me so long to apply this step to my makeup because it seriously makes a HUGE difference! Its the magic that makes celebrity skin look flawless. It is now a crucial step when I'm doing makeup on a bride, for a photoshoot, or big event. How cool is it that you can shape your nose, define your cheecks, and create highlights with just a little bit of shadowing?! I think we should all get to know our faces and accentuate the good and contour the rest.  Below I put together a few simple steps for you to use on yourself.

{What you need}

*Concealer or liquid highlighter (2 – 3 shades lighter than skin tone)

{Clinque has the best brushes for your buck! Obsessed with mine!!}

//Contouring//
  1. Apply the contour color directly underneath your cheekbones. You will want to keep the contour application VERY controlled. Pinch your brush bristles when you apply to give you more control.
  2. Use an eyeshadow brush to softly line both sides of your nose. If your nose is long, put a tiny bit under the tip of your nose.
  3. Apply the contour color below your jawbone. The point is to create a shadow below your jaw to define it.
  4. Make sure to blend the contour into your hairline- your face will look slimmer and more defined.

//Highlighting//
  1. Using your foundation brush, apply highlighter under your eyes extending to the tops of your cheekbones and along the sides of your nose.
  2. Highlight your chin, the upper part of your jaw, your brow bone, and the center of your forehead.
  3. Using your loose powder brush lightly blend together the contour and highlighted areas in circular motions-make sure you have blended all lines together for a flawless finish.
